Program Description

This professional certificate program introduces students to foundational concepts in A.I., including an overview of the field, a discussion of different model types, and conversations on ethical considerations. No prior experience required.

The A.I. Literacy Certificate program will be offered again in Fall 2025.

Who Should Attend

  • Anyone who is looking to gain a high-level understanding about artificial intelligence, the underlying technologies that make A.I. possible, and how A.I. might apply to their lives and careers.
  • Students without prior artificial intelligence/machine learning/programming experience but who want to learn about the field.

Learning Objectives  

  • Define terms like artificial intelligence (A.I.), data science (DS), and machine learning (ML) and understand the differences
  • Gain an appreciation for the importance of quality data and its vital role in building accurate AI/ML systems
  • Understand the concepts behind different subfields within A.I./ML, including supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and deep learning
  • Gain hands on experience training and evaluating a machine learning model
  • Become familiar with the ways that A.I. systems can fail and the ethical considerations that are needed by those who build and use A.I. systems
  • Understand how A.I. applies to both life and career
