Program Description

This course covers all the basics of HTML coding language. You will learn building simple web pages by hand coding, using HTML tags to create paragraphs, heading, lists, links, insert images and tables and more. We also cover creating a simple multi-page website with images, text and a navigation bar. 

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Create and edit HTML web pages
  • Insert text content such as paragraphs and headings to a web page
  • Create ordered and unordered lists
  • Create internal, external, email and anchored links
  • Create simple tables
  • Insert images in a web page
  • Create a simple multi-page website 

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding the process of hand coding a web page
  • Learning to present web pages content with HTML
  • Learning basic HTML tags to create paragraphs, headings, lists and links
  • Learning more HTML tags to insert images and tables
  • Creating single and multi-page web pages

Unit 1 HTML Basic Tags: naming convention, tags: h, p, b, i, u, hr,br, attributes
Unit 2 More HTML Tags: links, lists, tables
Unit 3 Images, directory structure
Unit 4 Creating a multipage website, domains, hosting, pointing, FTP

Instructor: Andy Helmi is a multidisciplinary graphic and web designer, technical consultant, and online marketing specialist based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. His diverse educational background spans over a decade of academic training in electronic and computer engineering, graphic and web design, music, typography, and digital photography. Andy began his career in digital media in 1996. Since then, he has worked with several companies and has continuously operated his own freelance design business.

A passionate educator, Andy is an Adobe Certified Instructor and holds a BC Instructional Skills certification. He has designed and delivered courses and programs for a range of institutions, including the Vancouver School Board, Vancouver Community College, Langara College, Vancouver College of Art and Design, and Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
